Permission to Be

Painting emerged from a journey to Montenegro, inspired by the memory of the Adriatic Sea. Deep turquoise and blue tones, sharp mountain lines, and light reflecting on the water create a sense of a world that exists naturally, without striving for perfection. The sea is in constant motion: transparent and calm, dark and deep, breaking against rocks before returning to stillness. Through every transformation, it remains itself. This feeling became the foundation of the work. The face in the painting is assembled from separate fragments: different states, experiences, and parts of the self. Some exist in harmony, others appear to contradict one another, yet together they form a single whole. Titled “Permission to Be”, the work speaks to the inner freedom of accepting oneself completely, without conforming to an ideal. Just as the Adriatic embraces every one of its changing states, the painting suggests that we too can allow ourselves this freedom: to be different, to be imperfect, to change, and still remain ourselves.
